God
tells us in His word for us -- the Bible -- that He is love (1 John 4:8
&16). But just as show and tell lessons from our
early elementary grades worked for our good because we were able to
clearly see what was being talked about, God, through His son, Jesus,
showed us the depths of His love for us by becoming human and serving
us.
Jesus washed the disciples feet and told them that
He was among them not to be served, but to serve them. He
taught them that love meant giving, serving, and sharing -- that if
they wanted to be great they must serve, not be served. Even
more dramatically, He willingly gave His life that we might have
abundant life now and eternally. He showed us what love was
all about. Romans 5:8 tells us that "...God demonstrates His
own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died
for us."
Thankfully God is a show and tell God. |
