The first four words of the Bible
are "In the beginning God...." Those four words are part of
the first verse of the Bible which says, "In the beginning God created
the heavens and the earth."
Certainly
God's existence cannot be proven from scripture. The opposite
is true. Scripture derives its authority from the existence
of a Being, God, who has created all that is -- things visible and
things invisible -- the spirit world and the material world.
Certainly any Being, any Creator, who can do that can also speak to His
creation in any way He chooses. The pages of the Bible are
filled with assertions that the words it contains are the word of that
Creator God speaking to His creation -- to us.
Parallel to the witness of logic demonstrating
God's existence as Creator of the Universe then is the witness of
scripture, "In the beginning God..."
Yes, God was in the beginning.
He's also been in all of the past, but more
importantly for us:
God is in the present, and
God is in our future.
It's comforting to know that both our present and
our future are in the hands of a God who is all good, Who is love
personified and most importantly loves each of us. |
