Happy Father's Day Dad!
Dear Dad,

I love it when you inspire thoughts in my head, like the one this morning when we were walking and talking together.  I realized it was Father's Day this weekend and suddenly I thought of you.  Thanks for being such a great Dad.

We were talking about how I used to view you in the past.  I used to be afraid of you.  I used to come to you and tremble because I thought all you could see were the bad things I did. I would spend most of my time with you apologizing and asking you to give me another chance.  We weren't very close then, were we?

But we're a lot closer now that you've shown yourself to be a Dad of incredible love.  I now know that you don't see me as a sinner, you see me as a son -- your son.  I now know that you love me unconditionally.  It doesn't matter what I do, you will always love me.  In fact, you've made it clear that you want to spend eternity with me.

I now know that you call me righteous.  I have to admit, sometimes that almost makes me laugh, other times it makes me want to cry.  But all the time it helps me love you even more.  The fact that you can take a wretched person like me who is so selfish and so into self and love me just the way I am is incredible.  And then to call me righteous -- just because I accept your Son as my Savior -- is beyond words.  Thank you.

Thank you for picking me up when I fall.  Thank you for encouraging me when I am depressed.  Thanks for strengthening me when I am weak.  Thanks for laughing with me, crying with me, working with me and walking with me.

Thanks for putting up with me.  Thanks for correcting me because you love me.  Thanks for being so merciful.  Thanks for total forgiveness.  Thanks for your incredible grace.  Thanks for calling me to you.  Thanks for opening my mind to some of the incredible riches you offer your children.  Thanks for all the experiences you've given me.  Thanks for all the times you've been with me even when I didn't acknowledge your presence.

Thanks for being the best Dad I could ever have.  I love you.  Happy Father's Day!
