| What is a Christian? |
| A Christian is a person who has an
on-going relationship with Jesus Christ. God's Holy Spirit
lives in them as Comforter and Guide. A Christian lives a life of gratitude to God for the gracious love and forgiveness that God has made available to them through Jesus Christ -- a life lived in the cleansing, eternal-life-giving shower of God's grace would be another way to say it. A Christian will love God -- Father, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit. He or she will think as God thinks and feel as God feels. They will hate evil and love what is good. God's will becomes their own will because God has demonstrated to them that is the best place for a human to be -- within His will. A Christian will "look like" Jesus Christ because, in a sense, Christ is living in and through them -- they are motivated by the Holy Spirit. A Christian's life will be characterized by outgoing love, care, concern, forgiveness, kindness, peace, patience, and joy. Christians will want to worship God -- to express their thanks and love for God -- proclaiming His worth in praises to Him. Christians will be excited about God and about the good news that God loves everyone and has given us Jesus to manifest to humanity the scope and depth of that love. Christians will recognize that they are part of Christ's body, the church. They will seek regular fellowship with other Christians to minister to (serve) each other and mutually build each other up in their relationship with Christ. Christians will seek to ease the hardship, misery and pain that others may be experiencing. Christians will be generous with their time, talents, property, and financial resources in service to the Church and others in need. Christians will "DO" a lot of good things, but that doesn't make them a Christian. What makes a person a Christian is what Jesus Christ has already "DONE" for them. |
